Each track will cover a broad range of topics, perspectives, and discussions on the main theme. Therefore, abstracts related to the main theme can be submitted to the most suitable tracks. According to the content of the submissions, we can modify or revise the tracks.The conference is free of charge to participants who are Members of the AESOP YA Network (registration for the network is free on the website). Abstracts of around 250-300 words are to be submitted to

with the email subject as “Abstract Submission AESOPYA 2022 Turkey ” until the 30th of November, 2021. Word template is available for the submissions. Please use the template to prepare your abstract. If you are not able to download the template via the links please contact us.

Please note:

  • Abstracts co-authored by a PhD student and his or her supervisor would be invalidated.
  • Master and PhD students can send abstracts. Recently graduated PhD students who sent abstracts will be evaluated in respect to their situation.
  • Authors will be notified about the abstract acceptance or rejection by 30th December 2021
  • Within 10 days after being notified of acceptance, authors are asked to confirm their participation in the conference, otherwise, the seats will be offered to the members on the waiting list.
  • Authors are required to include in their abstracts submission: Authors full name(s), Affiliation(s), and the targeted track(s).

As a part of our conference, there will be a best paper selected among the submissions where only the full papers are eligible to be awarded. Therefore, we would like to be informed about the further contribution with a full-paper submission until January 10th, 2022.

The full papers are expected to be sent until February 15th, 2022 via e-mail.

Selected paper for “Best Paper Prize” will be recommended to be published in one of the prestigious journals in planning, “Planning Theory” considering the paper’s relevance to the journal. Similar to the previous years, the track chairs and co-chairs will jointly decide to award a best paper prize.

Selection Criteria will be followed as originality and innovativeness of research, contribution to Planning Theory, relevance to the conference theme, clarity of research argument and methodology, overall scientific quality.

*The BPA will go through the peer-review process under the conditions determined by Planning Theory Journal.

Besides the Best Paper Prize, the top 10-15 papers will be recommended to be published in PlaNext or Megaron Journal. All selected papers (Megaron & PlaNext) go through the peer-review process in terms of relevant journals. For details about the journals, visit following websites.
